The Archdiocese of Monaco is a territorial district of the Catholic Church. It covers the territory of the Principality of Monaco and reports directly to the Holy See.
Established in 1868, the territorial abbey of Saints Nicolas and Benedict (abbatia Sanctorum Nicolai et Benedicti) was elevated to the rank of diocese (dioecesis Monoecensis) in 1887 and then to archdiocese in 1981.
The diocese participates in the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE), along with some forty other members.
